Sofiya Yashchuk

Sofiya Yashchuk joined the PINMRF staff in the Summer of 2008 as a teaching assistant for the Varian INOVA 300 instruments. She is responsible for user training and routine maintenance for these spectrometers. In addition, Sofiya is also a graduate research assistant in the lab of Dr. Arun Ghosh. She is currently synthesizing new HIV-AIDS protease inhibitors to combat viral resistance. In addition, Sofiya is synthesizing new Memapsin 2 (β-secretase) inhibitors for treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
